India Gate is a War Memorial built in the memory of those 70000 soldiers belonging to British Indian Army, died during the first world war from 1914 to 1921, in France, Flanders, Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli, and during third Anglo – Afgan war.
It was started in 1921 and completed in 1931 February. Designed by Edwin Lutyens.
It is located on Rajpath side, close to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Presidents Estate.
It is 15 km from Delhi International Airport, could take 25 to 30 minutes.
It is open all days, except national important dates like 26th January, 15th August.
